Man recognized by drug agent for felony warrants attempts to give authorities fake name

54-year-old Danny Beechum was charged with methamphetamine violation, drug paraphernalia, evading arrest, and criminal impersonation after an agent recognized him to have felony warrants and found meth in his vehicle.

On September 15th, 19th Judicial District Drug Task Force Agent Charles Bryant pulled over a blue Nissan Xterra at the U.S. Post Office located at 303 Holly Circle because he recognized the driver, Danny Beechum, to have multiple felony arrest warrants. When Agent Bryant asked for his driver’s license and name, Danny stated he did not have his license and his name was “Steve.”

Bryant proceeded to ask him to step out of the vehicle and he complied, however, he got out of the vehicle, began backing away, and took off running. The agent told him multiple times to stop backing away and stop running, but he did not comply. Danny finally lost his footing and fell down near the Walgreens Drive-Thru. When Bryant attempted to cuff him he continued to resist. Once Danny was finally cuffed, a free air sniff of Danny’s vehicle was performed. The canine positively indicated there were drugs in the vehicle. During the search, a methamphetamine pipe was found along with a baggy containing methamphetamine.

Danny Beechum was arrested and charged with a methamphetamine violation, unlawful drug paraphernalia, evading arrest, resisting arrest, criminal impersonation. He also had multiple active felony warrants such as probation violation and tampering with or fabricating evidence. His bond was set at $27,000.
