Man pulled over for speeding found with brass knuckles suspected to be under the influence

41-year-old Jason VanBavel was charged with driving under the influence, prohibited weapons, driving on revoked, and speeding after he was pulled over for going 12 mph over the speed limit.

On September 11th, Clarksville Police Officer Daw conducted a traffic stop at Dover Road and Woodlawn Road on a vehicle that was driven by Jason VanBavel who was traveling at 77 miles per hour (mph) in a 65 mph zone. VanBavel gave consent to search his vehicle and officers found him to be in possession of brass knuckles.

An open 24-ounce can of Bud Light was also found in the vehicle. VanBavel stated he had consumed the beer within the past hour. Officer Daw asked him to execute the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to which he agreed and performed poorly. VanBavel was also found to be driving on a license that was revoked out of Illinois in 1999.

Jason VanBavel was arrested and charged with DUI, prohibited weapons, driving on revoked, and speeding. His bond was set at $1,250.
