According to the victim, the man had a friend at the residence earlier in the day, sparking the argument between the two parties. During the dispute, Crispin allegedly placed the man into a chokehold. Crispin’s actions left the man unable to breathe. Despite this, the man was able to break free from Crispin’s grip and vacated the premises. Officers did not notice injuries to the neck of the victim but observed an injury sustained to the man’s right knee. The man denied medical attention and was unable to determine how the injury occurred. Crispin later confessed to drinking prior to the dispute.

Jose Crispin was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $10,000.
