Florida man and woman charged when police find stolen vehicle and liquid meth

35-year-old Crystal Mencer and 34-year-old Billy Santerfeit were charged with theft, possession of meth and marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and evading arrest after they were caught running from a vehicle that was reported stolen from Florida and found to have three containers of liquidized methamphetamine.

On October 26th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Jackson and Deputy Padilla made contact with Molly Hickman after seeing a man run across the street from 4569 Cumberland City Road and hide his face with a dog. Deputy Jackson witnessed Crystal Mencer on the back porch of the residence and while deputies spoke with Molly, Crystal attempted to hide. The scene was secured due to the fact that the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was verified as stolen from Florida. Molly told deputies that the man they observed ran into the woods and K9 arrived to conduct a track. As they waited, the deputy observed Crystal hiding under a trailer and she was placed into custody.

The track conducted by Deputy Owens and his police service dog led to Billy Santerfeit who was also placed into custody. Billy advised that he and Crystal had borrowed the truck from Kevin Hummel from Florida on October 14th and drove to Indian Mound, Tennessee. Billy stated that he ran because he thought that Kevin had reported the truck stolen. Kevin advised on the phone that Crystal and Billy stole the vehicle from his property which he reported on October 16th. The truck was worth approximately $3,000. During a search of the vehicle, a black purse which contained a glass pipe, a needle, a scale, and a metal pipe was found. Also found in the vehicle were two small bags of marijuana and three containers with cotton and liquidized methamphetamine.

Crystal Mencer and Billy Santerfeit were arrested and charged with theft of property, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and evading arrest. Crystal is jailed in lieu of a $46,000 bond and Billy is jailed in lieu of a $46,000 bond.
