Fugitive attempts to stash his crack under driver’s seat of police vehicle

24-year-old Sylvester “Youngwoo” Armstrong was charged with crack for resale, tampering with evidence, joyriding, evading arrest, and failure to obey traffic signals after taking off during a traffic stop in September and attempting to hide 0.5 grams of cocaine in a police vehicle while he was being transported to booking.

On September 30th, Clarksville Detective Neal received a report that was filed by Hertz who stated that Sylvester Armstrong rented a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu from them and failed to return it. Hertz showed police documents that contained a contractual agreement stating that the vehicle was to be returned on May 27th. Hertz stated that they have had no communication with Sylvester and the car was yet to be returned. The value of the vehicle was $21,000.

On September 30th, Clarksville Police Officer Lanham observed a black Nissan Altima fail to come to a complete stop and continue to travel down Paradise Hill. The officer initiated a traffic stop near 124 Maureen Drive and the driver, later identified as Sylvester Armstrong, provided his social security number and the registration for his vehicle. Officer Lanham reported that Sylvester appeared to have a small bag of a green leafy substance he was attempting to conceal in his lap. When the officer asked him to exit the vehicle Sylvester took off at a high rate of speed. Warrants were obtained for his arrest.

On October 21st, Clarksville Police Officer Pequignot witnessed Sylvester behind the 18 building of Summit Heights. The officer knew that he had warrants on file and a check through the system confirmed. He was detained and transported to Montgomery County for booking. During booking and a search of Officer Mclaughlin’s patrol vehicle, a clear plastic baggie containing 0.5 grams of cocaine was found on the floorboard. Per the report, Sylvester attempted to hide the cocaine under the driver’s seat prior to arriving at the jail.

On October 21st, Sylvester Armstrong was arrested and charged with possession of crack, tampering with evidence, joyriding, evading arrest, and failure to obey traffic signals. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $95,000 bond.
