Woman tosses BB gun out the window while evading arrest

30-year-old Chrystal Bernstein was charged with evading arrest, criminal littering, speeding, possession of a weapon during a dangerous felony, convicted felon going armed, and evidence tampering after speeding and trying to escape the police.

On September 2nd, Drug Task Force Agents Drudy and Bryant attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Chevy Malibu for speeding due to it being clocked at 40 mph in a zone posted 20 mph on Vaughan Road. The driver, Chrystal Bernstein, refused to yield and instead made a left turn onto Brothers Road. As she was passing 2854 Brothers Road, Bernstein threw a shopping bag out of the window which contained a BB gun and plastic holster.

Agent Drudy deactivated his emergency equipment and stopped to investigate the litter. A search of Bernstein’s license plate confirmed her identity. Clarksville Police Department was able to locate the car parked behind 894 Highway 76 and witnesses stated the people inside fled on foot through the woods. Bernstein was seen walking down Highway 76 around 5:00 p.m. and she was taken into custody.

Chrystal Bernstein was arrested and charged with evading arrest, criminal littering, speeding, possession of a weapon during a dangerous felony, convicted felon going armed, and evidence tampering. She remains jailed in lieu of a $70,000 bond.
