Woman pulls knife on man while he drives; says she will “f*cking kill him”

35-year-old Tanya Jean Butts was charged with aggravated domestic assault, simple possession, and contraband in a penal institution when police found marijuana in her purse as she was being booked.

On September 30th, Clarksville Police Officer Ethan Weaver responded to an aggravated domestic assault at 1550 Ashland City Road, where he made contact with individuals in a stopped vehicle. Both individuals admitted to being in an argument while driving. The victim, Edward Boyett, told police Tanya Butts pulled a knife out from the center console while he was driving.

Butts pointed the knife at Boyett and stated she would “fucking kill him” and proceeded to poke and push him in the head and grab at the steering wheel. He told police that is when he stopped the vehicle to get away from her. Butts informed police there was a knife in the center console she held during the argument because Boyett was retrieving his wallet and she didn’t want him to have a chance to get it. Police retrieved a black-handled kitchen knife from the center console.

While booking Butts into Montgomery County Jail, a black plastic bag containing suspected marijuana was discovered in her belongings. Butts stated she forgot the item was in her bag and she had not smoked recently. It was later confirmed via field test that the substance in the bag was marijuana.

Tanya Butts was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault, contraband in a penal institution, and simple possession of marijuana. She is currently out on a $12,000 bond.
