Woman charged with DUI after leaving Tippers

37-year-old Melanie Wilson was charged with a DUI and implied consent after she refused to do a field sobriety test after police received a call about an unwanted guest at Tippers.

On August 19th, Officer K. Ashford responded to an unwanted guest call at 1481 Tiny Town Road which is Tippers Neighborhood Pub. The officer observed a white female wearing black leggings and a pink tank top. She was later identified as Melanie Wilson and Ashford made contact with her because she matched the description of the unwanted guest at Tippers. Wilson was standing behind a beige minivan that was running and was yelling towards a group of several females and a male. Ashford asked Wilson to step to the side of the minivan to talk with him. As they were chatting, Wilson continuously stopped mid-conversation and began yelling at the group of females while they were trying to speak with other officers.

Ashford also said she smelled of an unknown alcoholic beverage. At one point, Wilson stepped away and started to approach the open driver’s side door. Wilson also stated the vehicle was registered to her. She told police someone was there and able to drive her home, but they left the scene on foot. Police were unable to find this person and witnesses claimed she had been drinking alcohol and had driven to and from the location multiple times already.

She would not consent to a field sobriety test or a blood test and was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. A search warrant was eventually acquired for blood testing since she denied even though she was read Tennessee implied consent. Wilson spontaneously admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the morning while in transit. There were also two open containers inside of Wilson’s vehicle.

Melanie Wilson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and implied consent. Her bond was set at $2,500.
