Woman charged with auto theft after taking someone’s car while they were asleep

31-year-old Kristin Yazzie was charged with theft of property after a woman said she took her car while she was sleeping. She identified Yazzie because she was also using the women’s phone to chat on Facebook messenger.

On August 18th, at 311 Hawkins Road, Bethany Smith reported that Kristin Yazzie stole her 2009 Toyota Camry while she was asleep. Smith identified Kristin after discovering Yazzie had used her phone to communicate with people via the Facebook messenger app.

Clarksville Police Officer Parkes determined there was probable cause that Yazzie had taken the vehicle without Smith’s knowledge. The car was valued at approximately $10,000.

Kristin Yazzie was arrested and charged with theft of property and is jailed in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
