Soldier speeds down Dover Road; denies intoxication, but shows signs during SFST

24-year-old Saul De Los Santos was charged with a first offense DUI and speeding after he was caught going 20 mph over the posted limit on Dover Road, and telling the officer that he did not have anything to drink, but failing the sobriety test.

On September 7th, Saul De Los Santos was seen by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher Owens, traveling 65 miles per hour (mph) in a 45 mph zone on Dover Road. The deputy clocked the speed with radar and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Dover Road and Convergys Way. He made contact with De Los Santos and reported he could smell a strong odor of alcohol. The deputy explained why he pulled him over and asked for his license, proof of insurance, and registration.

Deputy Owens also noticed that his eyes were red and glossy so he asked De Los Santos if he had anything to drink that night to which he responded with, “no.” De Los Santos was then asked to exit the vehicle and perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and exhibited several clues of intoxication. He also agreed to give a blood sample and was transported to Sango Emergency Room before being taken to Montgomery County Jail.

Saul De Los Santos was arrested and charged with DUI, first offense, and speeding. His bond was set at $1,500.
