Soldier charged with pot possession and firearms after neighbor receives smelly package

31-year-old Donovan Burks was charged with possession of marijuana for resale, possession of a firearm during a felony, and unlawful drug paraphernalia after a “victim” received a package smelling of cannabis addressed to Mr. Burks.

On July 28th, Clarksville Police Officers responded to a call at Waterford Landing Apartments located at 135 Westfield Court. The “victim” received a package addressed to Apartment 1512 which smelled of marijuana. While investigating contact was made with Donovan Burks and Demetrius Harris. Mr. Burks did not consent to police searching the apartment.

Agents later executed a warrant and found cannabis in the form of edibles, cartridges, and flower. They also located paraphernalia items such as “container trays, cigars, and three firearms.” Burks did grant consent of the package which also contained marijuana, THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) edibles, and THC cartridges bringing the total weight to over fourteen grams.

Donovan Burks was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana for resale, possession of a firearm during a felony, and unlawful drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $21,000.
