38-year-old James McGhee was charged with public intoxication after police received reports of a reckless driver on Wilma Rudolph Blvd near 101st Parkway and was found to be intoxicated after pulling into the TitleMax parking lot, per report.

On June 11th, Officer King was dispatched to the meeting of Wilma Rudolph Blvd and 101st Airborne Division Pkwy in regards to a reckless driver. Contact was made with the man shortly thereafter, who was identified as James McGhee. According to the affidavit, McGhee was seemingly under the influence of drugs or alcohol: King observed that McGhee spoke in a slurred manner of speech and had difficulty standing on his own power. Law enforcement asked McGhee what his method of transportation was to the loan agency, to which he claimed that a friend drove him to the location and left afterward.

Following McGhee’s consent, field sobriety tests were administered to the man. McGhee displayed signs of intoxication throughout all tests and was determined to be a danger to himself and those around him. Officers proceeded to place McGhee into custody for public intoxication. After setting McGhee inside a patrol vehicle, the man stated to have drunk alcohol and drove to the business. Further investigation revealed McGhee to have a history of alcohol-linked offenses in the state of Kentucky.

James McGhee was arrested and charged with public intoxication. His bond was set at $439.
