Man found laying in local hotel parking lot charged with fentanyl intoxication, per report

35-year-old Dustin Herrell was charged with public intoxication when he was found laying in a Clarksville hotel parking lot suspected to have been hit by a vehicle, instead it was determined he was under the influence of fentanyl.

On March 21st, Officer Hicks responded to an ambulance call at America’s Best Value Inn located at 254 Holiday Drive. According to the affidavit, the caller told dispatch that a male was prostrate in the parking lot and had possibly been hit with a vehicle. By the time the officers arrived Dustin Herrell had been moved and was slumped against the hotel wall.

Officers could not rouse Herrell but when emergency medical services arrived he awoke very confused and began jumping around and punching himself in the head. At the original location where the bystanders had moved him from authorities discovered a paper with a pink powdery substance which field-tested positive as fentanyl. Due to his intoxicated state and his statement that he was homeless Herrell was taken into custody for safeguarding.

Dustin Herrell was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was later released on his own recognizance.
