21-year-old Larry Hardy was charged with carjacking when he approached a woman at a dog park, told her “sorry I have to do this”, then dragged her out of her car, punched her in the head, and drove off. He then crashed into multiple vehicles while fleeing from police.

On August 9th, the victim of a carjacking, Ms. Lopez, was walking her dogs at a dog park when Larry Hardy jumped into the vehicle and drove off. She told Officer Akoziol that she was walking her dogs at the apartment complex dog park located at 2655 Union Hall Road.

Her Dodge Dart was nearby with the keys in the ignition and she was putting her dogs up when Hardy approached her. She said that he told her “sorry I have to do this” and then hopped into the front seat. At this time, Ms. Lopez got into the back seat and told him that she was on the phone with the police. He then responded by saying, “sorry” as he headed to the back door of the vehicle and grabbed Lopez’s arm, pulled her out of the vehicle, and punched her in her head.

A witness by the name of Alonzo Johnson saw this and came to her aid then they both described what Hardy looked like to the police. The police followed Hardy until they lost sight of him close to the Oak Grove, Kentucky line. But Christian County deputies then followed him as he was speeding down Tiny Town Road at which he wrecked by hitting several other vehicles. The estimated value of the Dodge Dart is $7,500.

Larry Hardy was arrested and charged with carjacking, driving on a suspended license, evading arrest, criminal attempt, obedience to a traffic device, reckless driving, and violation of community corrections. His total bond was set at $75,000.
