Man charged after pushing ex-wife away from their child while she buckles him in

28-year-old James Shepherd was charged with domestic assault and vandalism after he scratched his ex-wife’s truck and pushed her away from their son as she was buckling him in.

On October 18th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Byers arrived at Papa Rock Travel Center, located at 1475 Dover Road, in response to a vandalism call. Mary Shepherd informed him that her ex-husband, James Shepherd, had used an unidentified object to scratch the side of her blue Ford-F150. As she spoke to Officer Hinton, her voice quivered and her eyes watered up.

She went on to say that she was on the phone with her friend, Tina Walsh, while trying to buckle in her son when James started to tell her to move because he wanted to see his son. James then shoved Mary away from her vehicle and said he was “going to push her to the ground if she did not move.” According to the report, she was afraid that James would hurt her.

James Shepherd was arrested and charged with domestic assault and vandalism. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
