Kids found alone in vehicle rolling across 41A while mom was in beauty store

30-year-old Neshaszda Wright was charged with 2 counts child abuse & neglect and child restraint devices when her vehicle, with her children inside, rolled across 6 lanes of heavy traffic on Fort Campbell Boulevard, while she was in JC Beauty.

On August 20th around 7:30 p.m., traffic in front of JC Beauty Supply at 1904 Fort Campbell Boulevard was at a standstill when Clarksville Police Officer DeJesus arrived. The investigation discovered a white Chevy Equinox had rolled into the wood line behind Momo Korean Barbecue at 1913 Fort Campbell Boulevard. Two children, 5-year-old and 3-year-old, exited the vehicle with help from witnesses. The children were the only occupants in the vehicle.

Witnesses told Officer DeJesus that the Equinox backed out of the JC Beauty Supply parking lot and rolled the whole way across all six lanes of heavy traffic before stopping in the wood line. Neshaszda Wright walked out of JC Beauty Supply and across the street to Momo’s to speak to the officer. She told the officer that she left the children in the vehicle for approximately 30 seconds to enter the beauty store. Officer DeJesus observed there were no restraint devices in the Equinox for the children’s safety during travel in a vehicle. Wright admitted to transporting the children without safety restraints. The children were released in the care of their father.

Mrs. Wright declined to comment further on the allegations but also told Scoop that she only stepped away from the vehicle for 30 seconds.

Neshaszda Wright was arrested and charged with two counts of both child abuse and child restraint devices. Her bond was set at $2,000.
