21-year-old Jasmine Farruya and 22-year-old Anthony Farruya were charged with domestic assault after they took part in an altercation involving a pair of tongs, getting hit with a cell phone, a broken table, and the two of them wrestling over marital issues.
On September 6th, Clarksville Police Officer Gray was dispatched to a domestic disturbance reported at 441 Needmore Road. Officer Gray made contact with Anthony and Jasmine Farruya. Both parties advised they had been having an argument over marital issues. Officer Gray noted that both Anthony and Jasmine had blood on their clothing. Jasmine also had two visible cuts on her fingers and a bite mark on her wrist.
Anthony informed police that he was struck in the head with a pair of tongs and struck in the face with a cellphone resulting in a bloody nose. Officer Gray did not see any sign of injury on Anthony’s face and was advised the blood on his shirt was from the bloody nose. The officer also recorded that Anthony’s wrist appeared to be swollen. There was a broken table, glass littering the floor, and the smell of alcohol at the scene. Anthony and Jasmine were separated for questioning and there were many inconsistencies between their stories.
Anthony advised police the altercation began when Jasmine took his cell phone and he pushed her away to keep her from breaking it. Jasmin stated the altercation began because Anthony kept poking her in the forehead. Officer Gray determined the table was broken when Jasmine fell through it and that both parties were wrestling on the floor for a period of time. During the incident, Anthony locked himself in the bedroom and Jasmine damaged the door while attempting to break it down. After an extensive investigation, Officer Gray was not able to determine the primary aggressor, so both parties were determined to have participated in mutual combat.
Jasmine Farruya and Anthony Farruya were arrested and charged with domestic assault. Their bonds were set at $1,500 each.
