Felon hiding from police found next to bag containing 65 grams of marijuana, cash, and gun

23-year-old Terry Moore was charged with domestic assault, felon in possession of a firearm, and other crimes after reportedly shoving his pregnant girlfriend and running back into the apartment to hide from police in the laundry room.

On November 18th, Officer David Hauser responded to a welfare check at an apartment located at 542 Lafayette Road. On arrival, he noticed Terry Moore grasping Claresa Cottman by the arm as they yelled at each other. Officer Hauser reported when Terry saw officers, he sprinted inside, ignoring their orders not to go into the apartment. The officer then made contact with the residents at apartment B and detected the scent of marijuana. They proceeded with a protective sweep of the apartment, locating Terry in the laundry room.

Officers reported Terry struggled and attempted to pull away when they tried to handcuff him. A search of the area Terry was hiding in revealed a bag that contained a digital scale, $439.00, a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun, and two smaller baggies. The substance inside the two smaller baggies field-tested positive for marijuana and weighed approximately 65 grams. Witnesses reported seeing Terry with this bag in his possession prior to hiding from the police. Claresa told officers she was carrying Terry’s baby and that he had shoved her three times during their argument. Terry was taken into custody and a records check showed him to be a convicted felon for a robbery on November 22, 2015.

Terry Moore was arrested and charged with domestic assault, resisting arrest, evading arrest, possession of marijuana for resale, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $115,000 bond.
