Burglar found by police hiding in bedroom closet

33-year-old Daniel Winn was charged with aggravated burglary and resisting arrest when he climbed in a window and set off the security alarm. He proceeded to cut it off the wall and was found hiding in a bedroom closet.

On August 22nd, officers with the Clarksville Police Department were dispatched to 362 Randell Drive in reference to an alarm activation. As officers arrived, they stated they could hear the alarm. Officers also observed above the awning of the basement door the window was open and the screen appeared to be cut. A white Dodge Ram was parked at the edge of the awning with the windows down, the interior of it was still dry. Officers stated due to the recent storm they assumed the vehicle was parked there afterward.

A check on the vehicle registration showed it belonged to Daniel Winn. Officers cleared the residence and found Daniel hiding in the bedroom closet. While officers were attempting to place Daniel in custody, he rolled on his stomach and tucked his hands underneath his body refusing to be handcuffed. Officers had to forcibly remove Winn’s arms from underneath him to get him cuffed. While in the residence, Daniel did rip the alarm system box off the wall and cut the wire to the alarm siren. It was unknown at the time how much damage was caused to the property.

Daniel Winn was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $25,000.
