19-year-old Poni Taban was charged with domestic aggravated assault and theft of a motor vehicle after threatening to hit a man with a rock and stealing his car.
On May 7th, Clarksville Police Department Officer Steven Cash responded to a rolling domestic and vehicle theft call near Walmart on Fort Campbell Boulevard. According to the affidavit, the owner of the car tried to drop Taban off at a gas station across from Fort Campbell’s Gate 4 entrance. Taban, of Antioch, Tennessee, refused to leave the vehicle. So, the owner drove her to Wendy’s further south from the base. Again, she refused to get out.
The owner of the vehicle continued driving south on Fort Campbell Boulevard when Taban pulled a rock out of her purse and threatened to crack him in the head with it. Near 1680 Fort Campbell Blvd., Taban actually tried to hit the driver in the head with the rock. Douglas Craddick said he witnessed the owner try (unsuccessfully) to pull Taban out of the 2014 Ford Fusion.
Taban and the owner continued their journey to Shelton Circle. A female came out of the residence and Taban got out of the car to fight her. After being pulled apart, she was seen getting into the vehicle. Joshua Stoffregen said he saw Taban steal the car. Officers managed to stop Taban near Rossview Road and Exit 8 off of Interstate 24. She admitted to fighting and stealing the vehicle.
Poni Taban was charged with aggravated domestic violence and theft of a motor vehicle. Her bond was set at $10,000.
