Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirms six positive cases of COVID-19

Scoop Media Group has received confirmation from Sandra Brandon, Public Information Officer for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, that a total of six people have tested positive for COVID-19. Of those six, four are inmates and two are employees.

Montgomery County Mayor signs mandatory mask order

On July 17th, Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett issued Emergency Order #11, making face coverings in public mandatory for all residents and visitors to control the spread of COVID-19. The order goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. July 20th.

City reviewing fireworks regulations: Clarksville Police report big increase in calls for service

On July 16th, in a public release, Police Chief David Crockarell called the “volume” of available fireworks “intense” and stated the “Clarksville Police Department would be in favor of perhaps limiting the number of tents allowed and in restricting sales dates and the days when they can be used.” Currently, state law only allows the sale of fireworks from June 20th to July 5th and December 10th to January 2nd. Use of fireworks is also already forbidden except between July 1-5 from 6:00-10:00 pm and December 28 to January 1st from 6:00 pm to 12:00 midnight.

$382 million in PPP loans saved 14,324 jobs in Clarksville- details released

In data just obtained from the Small Business Administration under a FOIA request, we learn that over $382 million dollars of Paycheck Protection Program loans saved over 14,000 jobs in Clarksville by keeping employees on the payroll, at least that’s how the money is intended to be spent. Facility Services Management received the largest, with over $5 million in funds, Dominos Pizza (A Murgas LLC), received over $350,000 while local churches claimed more than $10.5 million of the available funds for small businesses.

Local favorites, such as Blackhorse & Strawberry Alley Alewoks each received over $350,000 in proceeds for their employees and expenses.
