Law enforcement agencies and building inspection departments for Montgomery County and the City of Clarksville will begin stressing that businesses must post signs requiring the public to wear face coverings.

Despite mandate, police & city’s elite refuse to mask up

Despite a mask mandate being in place with full support from both mayors, it is largely being ignored throughout the city. Law enforcement officers are responding to calls without masks, local politicians and business owners are mingling for hours unmasked and not socially distanced at various events drawing hundreds of the city’s elite.

Today, Oct. 27, 2020, Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett signed Emergency Order #21 to restore the wearing of face masks by all residents in Montgomery County.

Clarksville meter maid issues $40 overtime fine to Scoop employee, $10 to other citizens

Clarksville city code allows for a $10 fine to be issued for staying past the time on a parking meter on the Street. After Scoop: Clarksville began calling out the bad practices of the meter maids last month, who were standing at cars waiting for them to expire, some employees are now receiving $40 tickets, in violation of city code.

Montgomery County Mayor signs mandatory mask order

On July 17th, Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett issued Emergency Order #11, making face coverings in public mandatory for all residents and visitors to control the spread of COVID-19. The order goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. July 20th.

City reviewing fireworks regulations: Clarksville Police report big increase in calls for service

On July 16th, in a public release, Police Chief David Crockarell called the “volume” of available fireworks “intense” and stated the “Clarksville Police Department would be in favor of perhaps limiting the number of tents allowed and in restricting sales dates and the days when they can be used.” Currently, state law only allows the sale of fireworks from June 20th to July 5th and December 10th to January 2nd. Use of fireworks is also already forbidden except between July 1-5 from 6:00-10:00 pm and December 28 to January 1st from 6:00 pm to 12:00 midnight.

Tarboosh Clarksville, downtown’s most problematic venue, was shut down early Sunday morning by an inspector with the Clarksville Fire Department, citing the venue for being over double their allowed capacity.

Car club’s ‘Corona Cruise’ draws large crowds, defies ‘stay-at-home’ order in Clarksville

The Clarksville Gearhead Car Club & Vet Speed Racing defied city, county, and state ‘stay-at-home’ orders Saturday and held a mass gathering, branded as a ‘Corona Cruise’. Videos & photos show approximately 60 people attended the event, which did not practice social distancing or other precautions amid the COVID19 pandemic.
