Stewart County, Tennessee, Mayor Robin Brandon’s social media meltdown was a two-hour tirade on everything from “Trump Derangement Syndrome”, Black Lives Matter, Marxism, mandatory masks, threatening to give his county “a taste” of government overreach & even telling Indigenous People to “shut up” about Mount Rushmore.
On July 7th, Stewart County Mayor and Dover resident Robin Brandon took to his Facebook page to let his constituency know exactly how he feels about Governor Lee granting counties the authority to make decisions about mandatory mask wearing. Gov. Lee signed Executive Order on July 3rd, but Brandon’s posts come on the heels of Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett’s order set to go into effect at midnight July 8th.
Mayor Brandon started off by exclaiming that he would “NEVER place an absurd requirement of wearing masks on our residents” citing that it was unconstitutional. However, Brandon quadrupled down calling it “communistic and Marxist” as well as calling out the “idiots in BLM” (Black Lives Matter). He went even farther, stating “I would consider asking the Sheriff to place roadblocks at the County line to stop all non-Stewart County license plates from entering. Lol”. Stewart County Mayor Brandon finished his statement by admitting that this would be a “real taste of power over reach”.
Also on Brandon’s page was a post where he claimed to have witnessed a woman who walked three miles outside, breathing laboriously due to not getting “enough oxygen through the mask she was wearing.” Some questions could be drawn to other surrounding factors such as the temperature outside and the pace the woman was keeping.
When a Facebook “friend” of Brandon’s commented that she was a “liberal” and told him “We just as you are all individuals who think for ourselves”, he unleashed on her threatening ” All you sheepish liberals are about to feel the backlash, the boomerang effect, of what you started”. He goes on to denigrate anyone who simply votes Democrat saying “you support infanticide, open borders, and socialism”.
Finally, Mayor Brandon told “Native Americans crying about Mt. Rushmore” to “shut up” and educate their children better. He then proceeds to equate Indigenous Peoples’ plight to his own loss of Stewart County land to the Federal Government. Perhaps the mayor will be listening to his “introduction to Charlie Daniels”, the song “Uneasy Rider” while he figures out how to reclaim that land.
