Woodlawn driver throws out cocaine during traffic stop

26-year-old Deundre Luckett was charged with tampering of evidence, driving on a suspended license, simple possession of cocaine, violation of his condition of release and improper lane usage. Luckett’s charges stem from throwing out a bag containing a white substance during a traffic stop.

On May 27th, Officer Euman noticed a red Ford Mustang traveling in the center lane of traffic on Kraft St. After initiating emergency equipment on the Mustang, the vehicle neared the intersection of Kraft St and Riverside Dr, throwing out a clear plastic bag in the turn lane beside the Midtown Inn. Euman notified officer Riner of the bag’s location when the vehicle came to a halt. Contact was then made with the driver, who was later identified as Deundre Luckett.

Further investigation revealed that Luckett did not have a valid driver’s license, his current identification being suspended in May of 2019 for failure to appear. Riner later arrived at the scene with the thrown out plastic bag which, according to the affidavit, contained a white rock substance. Field testing showed the substance to be cocaine. Luckett’s driving history described no previous driving on suspended charges, leaving the current accusation to be a first offense.

Deundre Luckett was arrested and charged for tampering of evidence, driving on a suspended license, simple possession of cocaine, violation of his condition of release, and improper lane use. His total bond was set at $80,000.
