Woman steals man’s wallet while he reportedly gives her gas money

28-year-old Shelby Dabbs was charged with robbery after she stole a man’s wallet by driving off with it while he was giving her money for gas.

On November 20th, Clarksville Police officers responded to a man hanging out the window of a white vehicle and being dragged by the car in a parking lot across from 301 Main Street. When the officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, Karl Willis. Willis told the officers that a lady, Shelby Dabbs, asked him for some gas money, and when he opened his wallet she took his wallet.

He further stated that while struggling to get his wallet back from the woman she started dragging with a car, which caused Willis to break the door handle off of the vehicle. Later a traffic stop was made on a white Buick, which matched the description of the vehicle. Shelby Dabbs was identified by the victim Willis. The money was recovered from the vehicle, but $200 was still missing.

Shelby Dabbs was arrested and charged with robbery. She is currently jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
