41-year-old Kari Helton was charged with theft of property after stealing $1,000 from her roommate’s pants pocket.
On July 8th, Officer Honeycutt was dispatched after Ann Watson came to the Police Department at 135 Commerce Street to report a crime. Watson said her roommate, Kari Helton, stole $1,000 of cash that she had hidden in a pair of pants the day before.
According to Watson, she and Helton were the only people in the home when the money disappeared. She had not seen or heard from her roommate since the theft occurred.
On August 11th, Kari Helton was arrested and charged with theft. Her bond was set at $1,500.
