Woman charged with assault after argument over stimulus checks

27-year-old Amber Knight was charged with domestic assault when a man said she followed and incessantly struck him as he was trying to get away from her. Their quarrel began in regard to stimulus checks.

On May 11th, MCSO Deputy Michael Weber responded to a domestic incident at 755 Palmyra Road. According to the affidavit, the officer spoke with the male victim who advised that an altercation had begun about stimulus money. He testified that he was lying in bed when Amber Knight beat him on his back and head.

Knight blocked the man as he tried to escape the residence and even followed, continuing to batter him as he attempted to go to his neighbor next door. When he couldn’t contact the neighbor he started toward his truck and said that Knight threw a lawnmower hubcap at him. After driving away he contacted the authorities. When officers spoke to Amber Knight he story matched the man’s without any physical contact, despite exhibiting bruising on her knuckles.

Amber Knight was arrested and charged with domestic assault. Her bond was set at $500.
