They went inside to speak to Akins who showed them a cut he had on his testicles. He said that it was Whittier who cut his testicles but he did not know what he used to cut him. Whittier said it was possibly his fingernail that caused the injury. Medics were called to advise on the situation even after Akins refused medical treatment. They informed the officers that the laceration was not consistent with a fingernail scratch but rather by a sharp object.

Donald Whittier was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $5,000.
