Squad car confessional: Man admits to domestic violence charge while detained in backseat

43-year-old Ruben Burkett was charged with domestic assault after he originally denied to police that he was involved in a physical altercation, but then while being detained, he admitted to the assault and that he fled the scene before police arrived.

On May 8th, Officer Lucas arrived at 165 Providence Court close to 1 am for a domestic dispute. He made contact with the victim, who reported that he was involved in a verbal confrontation that turned violent with Ruben Burkett and was pushed into the stove and against the wall, per report.

The victim stated he was afraid enough to want to defend himself but didn’t want to be arrested. Police made contact with Burkett who denied his involvement because he was not home. Later while being detained, he admitted to being at the residence and the argument. Also, he said he knew the victim called the police so he left before they arrived.

Ruben Burkett was arrested and charged with domestic assault. His bond was set at $1,000.
