Soldier punches wife in an attempt to keep her from moving out

19-year-old Eathan Phillips was charged with domestic assault after he tried to stop his wife from “moving back home” by punching her and reportedly ripping her shirt.

On August 29th, Officer Schohn of Clarksville Police Department was dispatched on a call regarding false imprisonment at 249 Executive Avenue. The call was about a woman outside screaming for help, her husband, Eathan Phillips, was hitting her, and then pulled her back into the residence. The caller stated that before police could arrive the man left in a vehicle. Officers located the female, Marlena Philips, inside the apartments asking for help.

Marlena explained that Eathan got angry when she told him she was moving back home. While they were arguing, he took Marlena’s phone. She attempted to leave their apartment through the front door, but Eathan slammed it shut and pushed her away. Marlena said that during their physical altercation at the door, Eathan punched her in the upper left arm and ripped her black t-shirt. Officers noted apparent bruising and swelling. Marlena refused medical attention, and they have no domestic history.

Eathan Phillips was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He is currently in lieu of a $4,000 bond.
