On September 1st, MCSO Deputy I. Rivera responded to a single-vehicle collision call on Lylewood Road. When Officer Rivera approached the gray Ford F-150, Claude Powers admitted that he was the operator of the vehicle. Powers consented to standardized field sobriety tests, which were not completed due to Powers not feeling comfortable performing them. Powers was advised of Tennessee implied consent law. Powers understood, signed, and consented to a blood alcohol test that was performed at Tennova Emergency Room.

Charles Powell was arrested and charged with his fourth drinking under the influence, driving on a revoked license, and failure to exercise due care. His bond was set at $20,000.
