Rake-swinging man charged after search of his person reveals meth

42-year-old Scotty Slate was charged with possession of meth after he was observed swinging a rake through the air and told police one of his family members was laying in the burn pile next to the home.

On November 25th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Padilla responded to a call for back-up at 4482 Old Metal Road. Deputy Padilla arrived on the scene and witnessed Scotty Slate swinging a rake in the air while walking down his driveway. He then met with the other officer on the scene who stated the Scotty’s family advised he had taken narcotics and there may be some in his room. Kevin then went to speak with Scotty, who was exhibiting “erratic” behavior.

Scotty stated earlier that morning, a family member was “laying in the burn pile next to the home” and pointed a “Zyfer” at him.” He then explained a “Zyfer” was capable of shooting electricity. When questioned about the last time Scotty had used narcotics, he replied, “about three days ago.” He then agreed to a search of his person, which revealed a bag with a crystalline substance in it. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed roughly .78 grams.

Scotty slate was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $5000 bond.
