“More than I should have” is what a tipsy man confesses to deputy during traffic stop

51-year-old Jason Antill was charged with driving under the influence and a headlights violation when a sheriff’s deputy witnessed a truck driving down the road without headlights on, and he admitted to having been at Scooters.

On September 5th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Byers was traveling on Riverside Drive Near Commerce Street when they witnessed a black pick up truck driving the opposite direction without headlights. This was at approximately 5:30 a.m. when it was still dark outside. Deputy Byers conducted a traffic stop near Crossland Avenue and Cumberland Drive. The deputy explained to the driver of the vehicle the reason he was stopped, and the driver Identified himself as Jason Antill.

Deputy Byers asked him where he was going, and he simply stated “home.” When the deputy asked where he was coming from Jason advised that he had just come from Kelly’s Big Burgers located at 405 North Riverside Drive. Deputy Byers noticed the smell of alcohol on his person and asked where he was prior to that and he admitted that he was at Scooters located at 2458 US-41 Alternate Bypass. When Deputy Byers asked if he had anything to drink he stated “more than I should have.” The deputy conducted several field sobriety tests, and Jason exhibited signs of impairment during each task. Finally, the deputy asked Jason to take a breathalyzer test, and his blood alcohol content registered at 0.085.

Jason Antill was charged with driving under the influence and headlights violation. His bond was set at $2,500.
