56-year-old Robert Byard was charged with domestic assault after a man had to interfere and call 911 when he was trying to attack his girlfriend.
On September 1st, Clarksville Police Officer M. Carnagey responded to a domestic situation near the intersection of Lincoln and Summer Street where a man was attempting to attack his girlfriend.
A witness to the altercation, Jamie Thomas explained that he had to intervene to keep Byard from hitting his girlfriend, Mary Heggs. Heggs told Office Carnagey that Byard was trying to strike her and she was trying to get away fro him.
Robert Byard was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He is jailed in lieu of a $500 bond.
