Man leads high-speed chase through Hickory Wild while 4 passengers tell him to stop

20-year-old Josuel Morales was charged with four counts of reckless endangerment evading arrest, failure to exercise care, drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon, driving unregistered after he sped through a neighborhood as law enforcement followed in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

On October 25th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Corporal Flemming witnessed a silver Hyundai Elantra traveling at a high rate of speed through the Hickory Wild Community neighborhood. When he stepped into the roadway and signaled for the driver to stop, the driver swerved around him and continued down the road.

Corporal Flemming then attempted to catch the vehicle with his emergency equipment on, but it continued traveling at a high rate of speed, making several turns, and blowing stop signs. The vehicle finally came to a stop and the driver, Josuel Morales, as well as the four passengers exited the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, a Glock 27 handgun was found under the passenger seat where Jose Miranda-Reyes was sitting and several bongs, as well as a metal pipe, were also found. No one in the vehicle claimed ownership of the handgun but several passengers advised that they told Josuel to stop driving when they observed the corporal behind them. The vehicle was also unregistered.

Josuel Morales was arrested and charged with evading arrest, failure to exercise due care, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a weapon, driving an unregistered vehicle, and four counts of reckless endangerment. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $132,500 bond.
