25-year-old John Miyaji was charged with domestic vandalism after destroying his girlfriend’s phone while she was trying to record their argument.
On August 31st, Clarksville Police Officer Weaver was dispatched to 2313 Raleigh Court where contact was made with John Miyaji and his girlfriend, Genevieve Maldonado. Maldonado explained they had been having an argument which she was recording on her cell phone.
Miyaji took her cell phone and smashed it until it would no longer turn on. The device was valued at approximately $400. Miyaji initially tried to say that Maldonado had thrown her phone at him, but later admitted she had not and he took her phone and “chucked it.”
John Miyaji was arrested and charged with domestic vandalism. His bond was set at $1,000.
