Intoxicated cashier charged with assault of multiple women and child

22-year-old Jayesh R. Patel was charged with three counts of assault, false imprisonment, and public intoxication after several people told officers their stories about what Patel had recently done to them and their children.

On October 1st, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputy William Baker responded to a call at 2460 Highway 149, Palmyra Market, in regard to a publicly intoxicated individual. Deputy Baker made contact with the unnamed caller who reported Jayesh R. Patel was acting strangely and very unlike himself.

Deputy Baker noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Patel, as well as slurred speech while being questioned, and placed Patel in custody for his own protection. The first victim stated Patel touched her back, arm, and attempted to touch her chest. She also stated when she went to the parking lot, he would not let her into her car and laughed about it.

Investigator Angela Christian of the MCSO reported to the scene when it was determined Patel had assaulted several individuals. The second individual reported to the investigator that when she tried to leave, Patel pinned her against a glass door and after she squeezed passed him he followed her out to her vehicle and pulled her hair. S simple assault was reported by the mother of a juvenile, age 5. She reported that her daughters ran inside to grab drinks when Patel picked up her 5-year-old, who began kicking and crying to be let go as her sister ran outside and told her mother. Footage from the Palmyra Market confirmed the accounts of the children.

Jayesh Patel was arrested and charged with 3 counts of assault, false imprisonment, public intoxication. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $15,439 bond.
