Driver unable to maintain lanes charged with DUI

26-year-old Dayne Barnett was charged with driving under the influence when an officer pulled him over for failure to maintain lane and was found to be intoxicated.

On August 27th, Officer T. Eller initiated a traffic stop on a white Acura at 3301 Royster Lane for failure to maintain his lane. Eller states Dayne Barnett was observed in the listed stationary vehicle on Tiny Town Road in the westbound lane at the intersection of Allen Road. The light was red at this time, but when it turned green the vehicle began to drift into another lane and back into the original lane.

As the vehicle continued westbound in the other lane, it began to swerve into the shoulder twice and jerked back into the other lane. The vehicle then changed to the original lane and began swerving in and out of the continuous left turning lane. Once the vehicle returned to the original lane, Eller initiated the traffic stop. Eller states when speaking with Dayne, he noticed red glazed over eyes. Dayne also consented to a sobriety test and performed poorly. Dayne was taken into custody and also consented to a blood test. This was Dayne’s first DUI offense.

Dayne Barnett was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. His bond was set at $1,500.
