Driver points gun at vehicle while driving down I-24

28-year-old Larry Jones was charged with aggravated assault, possession of marijuana, unlawful drug paraphernalia, felony possession of a firearm, and driving on a suspended license after pointing a gun at someone while driving on I-24.

On October 7th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Officer Brown received a call about someone in a blue Mercury Marquis pointing a gun out of his window at someone else while driving down I-24. Officer Brown was near the Exxon gas station on Sango Road when he got an update from dispatch saying the car got off at exit 11. He was able to locate the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop. Larry Jones was driving the car and fit the description, so he was asked to step out of the vehicle while the officer searched it.

According to the affidavit, Officer Brown found a 9mm gun, a “felonious amount of marijuana”, a digital scale, and plastic bags. The person who called about Jones was able to identify him from his driver’s license, which was also revoked.

Larry Jones was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of marijuana, unlawful drug paraphernalia, felony possession of a firearm, and driving on a suspended license. He was released on a $35,000 bond.
