Diabetic woman admits to using several prescription pills before preparing to drive

44-year-old Bonnie Hibbard was charged with public intoxication when police found her at Dollar General seemingly lost and confused and she told officers she was on several medications for her diabetes.

On September 3rd, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Fortner responded to Dollar General, located at 1399 Dover Road regarding a suspicious vehicle. The caller who made the report explained that it was a woman in a gold Chevy Malibu who appeared to be under the influence. Deputy Fortner found Bonnie Hibbard in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and described her as having slow speech, pinpoint pupils, and being unsteady on her feet.

Employees of the Dollar Store told the deputy that she seemed confused and lost. When asked if she had been drinking she denied the claim but stated that she was on several prescription pills due to her diabetes. When the Emergency Medical Services arrived they took her vitals, which were cleared, before she was placed into custody.

Bonnie Hibbard was arrested and charged with public intoxication. Her bond was set at $439.
