Man with extensive rap sheet charged with assault after choking and beating ex; per report

38-year-old Charles Miller was charged with aggravated assault when his ex told police that he had strangled and hit her inside her home. The report stated Miller has a local criminal history for domestic abuse.

On March 5th, Officer William Becker responded to a call and spoke with a woman who said Charles Miller had been at her home the previous day at around 4:00 a.m. According to the redacted affidavit, she told Officer Becker that Miller had forced her into a bedroom with one hand around her neck while battering her face and chest with his other hand. The officer did confirm observing injury on the victim’s chest.

She stated that during this episode her breathing was restricted, which resulted in the upgraded charge of aggravated assault. The report also noted Miller has a history of domestic abuse and that he and the victim were, until recently, in a cohabitating intimate relationship.

Charles Miller was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $10,000.
