Clarksville man speeds toward vehicle to block ex-wife from leaving

feat Shelton, Jarvis

47-year-old Jarvis Shelton was charged with aggravated domestic assault after driving his vehicle head-on at the vehicle his ex-wife was riding in, attempting to block her in so he could talk to her.

On August 4th, Officer Robert Schohn was dispatched to a domestic violence call at 3 Walker Circle. Dispatchers received a call to 911 from Brenda Smith who reported that her niece Jacqueline Smith had almost been hit by a car driven by Jarvis Shelton. By the time police arrived, Shelton was no longer at the scene of the crime. Officer spoke with Jacqueline Smith, who advised that as she reached the intersection of Dover Road and Walker Circle she noticed Jarvis leave the car wash across the street and drive directly at her vehicle at high speeds.

Edwin Pantoja was in fear that he would hit the vehicle and potentially take their lives, and quickly shifted the automobile into reverse and drove back into the driveway of 3 Walker Circle. Smith explained to officers that she had been separated from her husband for “quite some time”, but he refused to cease contact with her. When Officer Schohn spoke to Shelton, he advised that he was only attempting to block the vehicle in so he could talk to her and that he had no intention of harming her.

Jarvis Shelton was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault. His bond was set at $5,000.
