Cheddar’s employee nabs $61 worth of booze from Mulligan’s Wine & Spirits

21-year-old Julia Keller was charged with simple drug possession, unlawful drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license, and theft of merchandise after she was caught concealing $61.98 worth of alcohol from Mulligan’s Wine and Spirits, then proceeded to drive to her place of employment at Cheddar’s.

On May 19th, Officer Hampton was dispatched to a theft of property call at 2255 Wilma Rudolph Blvd, Mulligan’s Wine and Spirits. According to the loss protection agent, Julia Keller had concealed merchandise from the shelves and passed the point of sale without payment. With the stolen spirits in hand, Keller exited the building in a gray Chevrolet Malibu. Loss protection estimated the total amount of stolen alcohol at $61.98.

As Hampton continued to write the report, the loss protection agency left Mulligan’s in pursuit of Keller, spotting the woman in the parking lot of Cheddar’s restaurant. After reporting the vehicle, Officer Hagewood was dispatched to the area. On arrival, Hagewood matched the description of the car with Julia Keller and arrested her for shoplifting. Following Keller’s arrest, Hagewood began a search of the vehicle. Found inside were the two stolen bottles of alcohol from Mulligan’s, now half consumed, according to the affidavit.

Further investigation revealed that Keller’s half-ingested alcohol served as driving under the influence, her second in the past year. Keller was taken to Montgomery County Sheriff’s office, where the later charges were administered.

Julia Keller was arrested and charged with simple drug possession, unlawful drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, driving on a revoked or suspended license, and theft of merchandise. Her bond was set at $56,000.
