Voluntary contact made by deputy leads to seizure of meth

57-year-old Melonie Dillow was charged with meth violation when an officer pulled the vehicle over that she was in due to having prior knowledge of the driver’s license being suspended and then searched the vehicle to find meth in her purse.

On August 18th, Deputy Burkhart was observing traffic at the intersection of Old Dover Road and Old Dover Court. The officer witnessed a subject pull into a driveway. Deputy Burkhart had prior knowledge of that person having a suspended license so voluntary contact was made with the driver. Melonie Dillow was a passenger in the vehicle.

When voluntary contact was made, probable cause was found to search the vehicle. During the search, Burkhart searched Dillow’s purse and found a baggy with a crystal-like substance with a preliminary weight of .5 grams that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Melonie Dillow was arrested and charged with methamphetamine violation. Her bond was set at $5,000.
