Vehicle burglar springs from grassy ditch to run from officer; charged after foot pursuit

27-year-old Jordon Sheffield was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, evading arrest, and auto theft after springing up out of a ditch and running away when an officer happened upon his hiding spot.

On September 19th, Clarksville Police Officer Godwin wrote a supplement for burglary of a vehicle at 1269 Eagle View Drive. The officer was walking through the neighborhood due to an earlier vehicle burglary call at 914 Talon Hills Drive and approached a ditch near Talon Hills Drive. Jordon Sheffield sprang from some tall grass he was hiding in and ran across Trenton Road.

Officer Godwin chased Sheffield but lost him as he ran towards Timberland Drive. The officer returned to the ditch and discovered Sheffield had dropped an Apple laptop and Nikon camera where he had been hiding before taking off. Angela Ramirez identified the items as her property that was stolen from her vehicle which was parked at her home.

Jordon Sheffield was arrested and charged with auto burglary, theft from a vehicle, and evading arrest. His bond was set at $10,000 and the case has since been bound over to the grand jury.
