Soldier indicted on child pornography charges; wife still offering babysitting services

23-year-old Chase Bowman-Raines was federally indicted with possession and distribution of child pornography. His wife continued to offer child care services out of their Fort Campbell home.

On April 20th, agents conducted a military search warrant of Chase Bowman-Raines’ home and seized six cellular devices, an iPod, and a computer. He consented to an interview and confessed to possessing and distributing child pornography while stationed at Fort Campbell military installation.

On April 22nd, Bowman-Raines was released from custody on a $25,000 bond with conditions and is living in his home awaiting sentencing being monitored by an ankle bracelet. According to the United States Code (U.S.C.) a first-time offender convicted of producing child pornography under 18 U.S.C. § 2251, face fines, and a statutory minimum of 15 years to 30 years maximum in prison.

A first-time offender convicted of transporting child pornography in interstate or foreign commerce under 18 U.S.C. § 2252, faces fines and a statutory minimum of 5 years to 20 years maximum in prison.  According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office Western Kentucky District on May 29th, several others are also being investigated due to similar complaints. They also stated there is no parole in the federal criminal justice system.

On June 17th, the grand jury charged Chase Bowman-Raines with three 3 counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. On July 21st, he entered a plea of not guilty and his next trial date was set for August 28th. A month later, on August 20th, the trial date was rescheduled to August 31st due to the court’s schedule.

Even with everything going on, his wife, Alex Bowman-Raines is still on social media sites offering child and animal sitting services in their home in the Hammond Heights neighborhood on Fort Campbell. She was even still maintaining a Care.com site under her maiden name, Alexandra Chin, until someone pointed out the circumstances to Care.com through a Facebook.com post on, August 5th. The website has since taken down her page.

Chase Bowman-Raines was been arrested and charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count possession of child pornography. His bond was set at $25,000 with conditions.
