Man upset about his care at Tennova Medical charged after pulling a knife on hospital staff

36-year-old Ryan Herndon was charged with four counts of aggravated assault and tampering with evidence when nurses and guards at Tennova Medical told officers he was unhappy with his care and pulled a knife on them after being escorted out.

On May 2nd, Officer Joffer was dispatched to Tennova Medical Center at 651 Dunlop Lane for an aggravated assault. According to the affidavit, officers spoke with at least two nurses and two security guards who told them Ryan Herndon was unsatisfied with his care and attempted to leave without his paperwork. When the paperwork was given to him he lobbed it at the checkout desk.

While being escorted out, Herndon was cussing and arguing and once they got him outside he took out a knife and was wielding it erratically. Ryan Herndon was located across the street and consented to a search. The knife was not found and officers noted Herdon stated he threw it in the nearby pond and didn’t know why.

Ryan Herndon was charged with four counts of aggravated assault and fabricating/tampering with evidence. He is jailed in lieu of a $125,000 bond.
