When Jennifer was questioned by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Cody Evans, she stated she was in fear of injury due to his history. He screamed in her face and told her she should kill herself. She felt she was unable to leave after he threw her keys into the yard. The deputy noted that when he arrived, she was locked in a bedroom with a golf club propping the door shut from the inside. She claimed it was there to keep Robert from getting to her.

Robert Smith was arrested and charged with false imprisonment and domestic assault. He was later released on a $5,000 bond.
