Man charged after nearly stopping at a green light in front of an officer

25-year-old James Bailor was charged with driving under the influence after he nearly stopped his vehicle at a green light in front of an officer on patrol and swerving onto the shoulder of the road.

On November 29th, Clarksville Police Officer Rosa Hyatt initiated a traffic stop at 2961 Ft. Campbell Boulevard after a vehicle came to a near-complete stop at a green light at Ft. Campbell Boulevard and Jack Miller Boulevard. Officer Hyatt continued to watch the vehicle, saw it cross over traffic lines multiple times, and go onto the shoulder near the curb. Officer Hyatt initiated a stop near Wallace Boulevard, eventually pulling him over at the McDonalds Parking lot at 2961 Ft. Campbell Boulevard.

When Officer Hyatt made contact with James Bailor, she stated she could smell alcohol coming from him and the vehicle. She also noted he had extremely slurred and slow speech. Officer Hyatt asked how much alcohol he had, and Bailor responded with “2 to 3 beers.” Officer Hyatt asked Bailor to perform a field sobriety test, to which he consented and performed poorly. He was taken into custody where he agreed to a blood draw, was transported to Tennova Sango-ER, then to Montgomery County Jail.

James Bailor was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was later released on a $1,500 bond.
