Man assaults his wife when he can’t find the remote

47-year-old John Calvo was arrested and charged with domestic assault after he held his wife down, asked where the remote was, and then waved a gun around while talking with her.

On September 23rd, Clarksville Police Officer Hampton arrived at 2612 Elkmont Drive in response to a domestic violence call. Shawn Calvo told police about the domestic incident she had with her husband, John Calvo. Shawn told the police John woke her up at 6:00 a.m. by holding her wrists above her head and yelling at her, “Where is the remote?” Shawn replied, “I don’t know, get off me!” John got off and went into the living room.

Around 7:45 a.m., Shawn got up and ready to leave, but stopped by the bathroom door and talked with John. John was bathing, and during the discussion, he came out of the bathroom in a towel and carrying a handgun. John was said to have waved the gun around but never pointed it at Shawn or threatened to harm her with it. Shawn left with their daughter and together they went to speak with an attorney and VA psychiatrist, Dr. Povallari. Shawn came home to collect her things, but John would not let her. Shawn then called the police for help.

John Calvo was arrested and charged with domestic assault. His bond was set at $5,000.
